About This Spot

George’s Bar & Grill feels like a quietly cherished corner of Fresno where familiarity settles in the moment you walk through its doors. The warmly worn décor, with its cozy booths and subtle nods to Armenian heritage, invites you to slow down and savor both the surroundings and the company. It’s the kind of place where the pace doesn’t rush, offering a comfortable space for meaningful conversations or simply a quiet moment to yourself after a long day.

The heart of the experience lies in the open flame grill set just beyond view, where skewers of lamb, chicken, and salmon turn gently, filling the air with a smoky, aromatic promise. The atmosphere is unpretentious but rich with tradition—each dish carries a story, from the freshness of perfectly seasoned tabbouleh to the tender, hearty warmth of classic Armenian fare. Here, the familiar mingles with unexpected delights, like a Philly cheesesteak crafted with care and flavor that surprises in the best way.

Around you, quiet conversations hum beneath the attentive service, creating a rhythm that feels both intimate and inviting. Whether you’re settling in for a meaningful dinner with family or grabbing a casual bite with friends, George’s Bar & Grill offers a sense of place that’s more than just a meal—it’s a return to traditions passed down, with enough touches of warmth and curiosity to make every visit feel like a small discovery.

At first glance, the restaurant and décor may seem a bit dated, but don’t let that fool you—I strongly urge you to give it a try. The food and service are truly one of a kind. Their kebabs are grilled over an open flame right in front of you, adding an authentic and flavorful touch. While it’s a Mediterranean spot, don’t overlook their Philly cheesesteak—it’s surprisingly amazing. And the hummus? Absolutely out of this world. A hidden gem worth discovering!

How this place was not filled with people is beyond me! After living in SoCal for almost a decade I thought I had tasted all the Mediterranean food I can ever taste, but this place surprised me and raised the bar ! Easily the best food I’ve ever had for a long time! Stop reading the reviews and go there ! I told the chef he must have been to Hogwarts and I meant it!

Excellent food and service. The food is hearty, distinctive, traditional Armenian. I have been a customer for close to 40 years, my choice for special occasions with family and friends. Nice atmosphere too!

This is one of few Armenian restaurants in Fresno. I love the lamb shish and pilaf. There are other items on the menu that are just as good. The service was awesome as usual. It's a nice quiet atmosphere for any occasion.

Not gonna lie, I was a bit scared, but this is actually a really nice Armenian themed restaurant. Servers are wonderful! I ordered the Armenian Combo and didn't realize it would come with bread and choice of a side dish. For just under $23.00, I think that was a great deal. The lamb and rice were my favorite. The meatball thing wasn't bad either. Though I would've like to have more than two pieces of lamb.

First time visiting and we had the best time! Old fashioned service and attention to every detail. Food was amazing and more than you can eat! Adding it to our favorites rotation.

Love the rack of lamb cooked to perfection. The rice pilaf always so delicious. The homemade salad dressing are so creamy.
